In this digital world, where everybody is talking about the Netflix movie Adolescence, is there anything we can do in the early years to ensure our child does not grow into a confused adolescent—one who, in seeking validation, forgets about the consequences of their actions?

Can we do anything to help our child become a confident and emotionally balanced person?

The answer is yes.

These early years are crucial in shaping a child’s behavior and emotional intelligence. By providing the right guidance, support, and environment, we can help children develop self-awareness, empathy, and self-control.

The most important is Monitoring the media your child consumes, Violent content in television, video games, shows they are watching . The shows that you are watching in front of a child should also be monitored.

Remember : Your kid is a reflection of yours . Each activity is one or another way reflected on a child's behaviour.

 Here are some key strategies to foster emotional balance and confidence in your child:

1. Teach Healthy Emotional Expression

Encourage your child to express their emotions in words rather than actions. Teach them phrases like, "I feel angry because…" to help them communicate their feelings effectively.

2. Set Clear and Consistent Boundaries

Children need to understand that hitting is not acceptable. Use simple, firm statements like, "We use kind hands" or "Hitting hurts others. Let’s find another way to solve the problem."

3. Model the Behavior You Want to See

Children learn by observing. Demonstrate patience, kindness, and positive conflict resolution in your daily interactions.

4. Validate Their Feelings Without Encouraging Aggression

Let your child know that it’s okay to feel upset, but it's not okay to hurt others. Offer alternative ways to release frustration, such as deep breathing, counting to ten, or squeezing a stress ball.

5. Encourage Problem-Solving Skills

Help your child think of alternative solutions when they feel frustrated or angry. Teach them to ask for help, take a break, or find another way to express their needs.

Praise your child when they handle their emotions well. Saying things like, "I noticed how you used your words instead of hitting. That was a great choice!" reinforces good behavior.

7. Provide a Safe and Supportive Environment

Ensure that your child feels loved and understood. A strong sense of security helps build confidence and emotional resilience.

8. Encourage Social Skills and Empathy

Teach your child to consider how others feel. Asking questions like, "How do you think your friend felt when you hit them?" fosters empathy and social awareness.

9. Limit Exposure to Aggressive Influences

Monitor the media your child consumes. Violent content in television, video games, or social media can normalize aggressive behavior.

10. Seek Professional Support if Needed

If your child frequently struggles with aggression or emotional regulation, consulting a child psychologist or counselor can provide valuable guidance.
